document.write('It was in fact an eye opener and a pleasure.. the French skaters work so hard ALL the time. I coached for 18 hours over two days - covering all standards from Mini through to Senior,  and even some couples.  I must admit that it was quite difficult language wise but some of the time I had an interpreteur. At the end of both days I was exhausted but it was well worth it.  I was made very welcome and so was Richard, who came with me, although this was an event just for the French.<br>');

document.write('We were both treated to some sight seeing on the Saturday evening and were amazed at the sights especially the Eifell tower which was completely lit up in blue with the European logo at the bottom.  This was followed by a truly delicious meal in a restaurant not far from the Les Champs Elisse.<br> ');

document.write('I can see why the French are doing so well, this is a respected sport over there and has the financial backing of the councils who provide designated rinks.  Added to this is a great desire by the skaters to be the best and to work to be the best, every hour is utilised to the maximum, with even the youngest children eager to skate all the time.<br> ');

document.write('I understand from the French coach that they took their first medals at World level this year in a couple of categories, so they are really doing well.<br> ');
