document.write('
The BIG day arrived - we had three skaters in Cadet Dance and one in Youth dance and Youth free. First to skate in Cadet was Atlanta doing the Tudor Waltz. Atlanta chose a bright red dress which was heavily trimmed with red diamonte. Next was Jessica... dressed in saphire blue and silver, and third on was Samantha whose choice was black velvet trimmed with pink sequins. All three girls skated well, with Atlanta receiving the highest marks of the three. Their next dance was the Federation Foxtrot - a more difficult dance but probably the better one for the girls. Again Atlanta was ahead with her marks. Tomorrow sees them all performing their OSPs and finding out their final places. For dance Emma chose a sophisticated Royal Blue outfit which was heavily sequinned on one side. Her Kilian was very well skated but it was her Waltz that really impressed.
');

document.write('Emma also skated her short programme for the Youth freeskating Championship. Her Double Lutz was high and well executed and she pulled off her combination spin and layover. Her axel was also clean, but there was a slight wobble on the combination jumps. Tomorrow sees her performing her Polka and also her 4 minute long programme. Another busy day for Emma. Good luck to all our girls.
Nice to see Mia, Kia and the rest of the Appleby family (thanks Val for doing such a good job with the girls).
');

document.write('The second day of Champs saw our skaters competing in the OSP section. Both Sam, Atlanta and Jessica had Samba\'s to skate in the Cadet event whilst Emma skated a Polka in the Youth section. Unfortunately Atlanta was marked down for a dress violation We were all very upset about this as it meant that she lost the chance of a medal position. Emma on the other hand, managed a third place overall for Youth dance, and took the silver in the freeskating comp. All our skaters can be proud of their efforts and Congratulations to Emma for her excellent placings.
');

document.write('
Arrived at comps. early afternoon on Saturday so was able to watch some of the younger skaters at Tots level - but was disappointed to hear that - in both figures and free - standards had not been reached and this proved the case on Sunday with other Championships. Our only competitor was September who entered the Espoir Solo Dance Championship ... normally we have skaters in most events but this year we had just the one. Septembers first dance - the Denver Shuffle - put her in first place in a field of 15 skaters. She was confident and expressed the character of the dance very well. Her next dance, the Swing Foxtrot was nicely performed but there was a slight timing hitch and this resulted in lower marks than the Denver: whilst her third dance, which was the Canasta, brought her marks up again. The total marks between third and fourth place were very close, and September just missed a Bronze medal by coming fourth. All in all this was a very good performance. Well done September.
');

document.write('Have just heard that Richard has a place in the Team for Pieris and will be off to Italy in May - this is good news for him and he will be hoping to improve on an excellent result from last year when he came 5th.
');

document.write('
Well Done Samantha, a straight through pass on her bronze dance test, clever bunny. Also, Well Done to the following of our younger skaters who passed theie grade tests - Grade 5 little Molly who is doing so well at just 5 years old, Grade 5 little Mia another very young skater, Grade 5 Abigail who is doing so well. Best wishes to Jemma who hurt her ankle (not a skating!) Miss you Jemma.
');

document.write('
Congratulations to Kent skaters who passed the following dance tests - Prelim, September and Karen, Inter-Bronze, Samantha, Bronze, Jessica and Atlanta. And well done to Bethan from Moonrakers who also took her Inter-Bronze.
');

document.write('
Having not been to the Romford opens before we were not sure what to expect, but although it was a long day, with many heats, our skaters were delighted with their results. Several of our skaters chose to skate up a standard because they preferred the harder dances.
');

document.write('In all Kent skaters won Six Trophies and took Five second places. Results were as follows:
');

document.write('At Novice level September came through all the heats to the final and then took second place. She also won the OSP competition with her lively and beautifully performed Charleston. Her sister Atlanta came through all the heats at Prelim level and won.
');

document.write('Emma won her OSP event with her lively Samba, as well as the higher standard solo dance comp. This was in addition to coming second with Richard in the higher standard duos. Plus she gained a second place with Atlanta and Jessica who skated up a standard in the same team event.
');

document.write('Atlanta and Jessica came second in duos at Prelim level, whilst Tracey and Karen skated like shadows to win the Inter-bronze and above duos. Richard came second in the senior solo dance as well. Last but not least Karen AB won the adult event.
');

document.write('Newcomer Poppy skated her first open competition and performed very well. Nice to see some of our newer members and parents at Mote Park to support Kent Club.
');
